Ever since I was a kid, I've had twin genre passions. I love space, and I love medieval and primitive history.
If you toss that anachronism together in a blender, that's RimWorld. Which is very inspiring.
RimWorld art assets are very minimal and very streamlined. There are only 3 sprites for every art asset in the game -- North, South, East. And those are all the animations for characters, called "pawns," as well. Guns just kind of stick out of the character and point at the target as the sprites look up down left or right. They also have Male, Female, Hulk, Fat, and Thin body variants.
I found the mod Save Our Ship on Steam while I was "researching." It's a mod that allows players to build a ship, take it to space, then land on a new map with the characters from the last game. Very cool.
The mod seems to have started several years ago and since traded hands to new authors. They needed art assets, and I wanted to learn more, so I produced these for them. Quick easy project.
